Samuel Preston always wanted to do 2 things in his life. Be a Radio Talk Show Host and a Police Officer. Since the 3rd grade, he envisioned sitting behind a microphone and talking to the world or presenting the news. After several years entertaining the listeners in Minneapolis, he moved to Wisconsin and suddenly became a Police Officer. Samuel's Law Enforcement career begins in Collinsville, Wisconsin.
After about 7 years on the job, he has polished the communication skills that he developed as a Talk Show Host, and he has honed his skills in criminal investigations to become an effective and ethical Police Officer. The experience has solidified his yearn for justice and service to others in his community.
As he patrols the small Wisconsin town, protecting and serving, strange criminal activities are set in motion with several suspects under consideration as the possible culprits. Samuel finds himself trying to solve the mystery of deceit, corruption and betrayal. People who are previously wrongdoers are suddenly helpful to the case and those who were previously helpful seem to be misdirecting the investigation. He learns that not everyone is who they claim to be, and some others have put up a hypocritical facade.
Eventually, a wise, retired detective befriends Samuel and helps him with the case and his troubled thoughts.
Who is ethical and trustworthy and who is trying to manipulate the investigation?
Can Samuel deal with his suspicions about who may be involved in the corruption?
Does he come forward with the suspicions he has, or does he keep his loyalty to a trusted friend?
What is the right and responsible thing to do?
Will the truth come out?
If the truth does come out, who do we learn is involved?
Who is committing the crimes?
Who has something to gain by committing the crimes and deceiving the town?
Who would have the most to lose?
A true test of responsibility and ethical behavior, "Small Town Cop - Big Time Crime" shows that anything can happen anywhere, even in the little town of Collinsville, Wisconsin. Whether it's a big city or a small town... A large Police Department or a 1 man show...people can be corrupt anywhere. Temptations are everywhere and Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Lessons learned in Collinsville can be learned anywhere temptations lies.
I was a Radio Air Personality and Talk Show Host in the Midwest years before anyone knew what a "Podcast" was. I was in the Radio business for a total of 12 years.
After the death of "Local Radio" in the early 2000's, I dedicated myself to Protecting & Serving my small Wisconsin city. I have now retired from the Police Department. I was an Officer, then Sergeant and Chief of Police. I protected and served my community for 17 years.
In order to find a creative outlet again, I began the "Discerning The Unknown" Podcast.
The website for my Podcast is www.DiscerningTheUnknown.com
On the show, I feature guests that discuss "What we think and Why we think it."
It's a video Podcast. You can listen anywhere you get your Podcasts, or you can watch at this link on YouTube.
Please let me know what you think.
The guest on Episode #1 of "Discerning The Unknown" was psychic John Russell. He talked about how NOT to get scammed by a bad psychic and how to spot the bad ones. He also names some names of the Famous psychics who are frauds!
Episode #2 featured my Guest Dr. Douglas Garland and his
Book: "The Tall Poppy Syndrome." We had a terrific conversation about the joy of cutting others down and what that is doing to our society today.
I'm scheduling Guest Appearances on Podcasts for Summer 2024 to the end of the year.
If you're looking for some interesting stories for your Podcast, feel free to Email me.
I'll discuss my funniest memories on the job, My Podcast, and also how we all can prevent ourselves falling for "Fake News."
